PLANNING YOUR DAY

For many people, chartering a boat means going to Formentera, and with good reason. Reason number 1 is that It cannot be accessed without a boat is, but the white sands azure blue water and outstanding restaurants really set it apart as a destination for a day out.

The destination is only part of the allure. When you are sitting on the Salinas beach, looking at all the boats on anchor, there are not many who would not rather be sitting on one of those boats.

Choosing your boat.

1. How many of you are there?

Each boat has a maximum capacity that it is allowed to carry. Check the capacity of each boat to ensure that it can take the number that you want to bring. The capacity is listed with each boat details on the opening page.

2. Cost

Please note that boats are always charged for the whole boat, so whether there are two or ten, the price will be the same. The first three boats on the home page  offer the best deals. Bear in mind that crew and some drinks are included, but fuel is charged on top for motorboats. Most sailboats do not charge for fuel, even if they use engines, as they are economical on fuel. We have given fuel prices, but the further you go, the more fuel you use.

3. Sail or motor?

The real question is destination or journey.

A motorboat will get you there fast, so you have more time at your destination, and you can explore further afield.

Sailors will say that the journey is the best part. You can enjoy the sound of the water, rather than the engines. Formentera is still close enough to give you plenty of time at your destination if you sail, but Es Vedra is only in range if you have lunch on board.

4. Lunch!

For some people, it is all about the lunch.  We can book a restaurant for you, or supply a gourmet packed lunch.

Juan Y Andreas is the most famous and popular of the Formentera restaurants. It attracts Europe’s A-list. Here you can enjoy the finest seafood while sitting in swimwear and wriggling your toes in the sand.

El Pirata is in the next bay and is more relaxed . The menu is less expensive, but you can still find great food here. Paella and Seafood stews are a popular choice here. This restaurant is favoured by Spanish and families. The long tables make it perfect for large parties.

El Tiburon is a  little further down the coast. This is a small restaurant with a pretty outlook. There is wide selection from seafood platters to great steaks and mouth watering desserts.  You may get wet going here, as they do not have a launch with which to collect you.

Catering On Board

The larger boats Gulets, Elegance, Geisha Dream Of Freedom and Stellar Polaris have good kitchens enabling a chef to cook for you on board. On smaller boats we can prepare a gourmet hamper.

5.Other Stops

Es Palmador

The main beach at Es Plamador is long, uncrowded and features sand dunes at one end. The mud baths and sand bar featured in the pictures below.

There are more beaches at Illettas, where you can get to the water on both sides of the isthmus. One side is usually wavy, the other calm, one warmer, the other cooler.

Further afield there are empty coves with great snorkeling, you can go for a tour of the impressive and mythical Es Vedra, and you can visit other great beaches and restaurants at Salinas Calla Jondal and Calla D’Hort.

A few of our boats depart from San Antonio, which bring into range the beautiful unspoilt north coast. With the pretty double beach of Calla Salada and the stunning Islas Margharitas.
